|
Acronym for Initial Quality Study.
|
|
Make
|
Brand Name or Automobile Manufacturer (Ford, Acura, BMW).

Market Research
|
The process of specifying information required to address issues; designing the methods for collecting information; managing and implementing data collection; analyzing results; and communicating the findings and their implications.

Model
|
Specific automobile brand name (Taurus, Integra, Z-3).

Nameplate
|
A brand or make of automobile.
|
|
Origin
|
Region where vehicle manufacturer is located--Domestic (North America), Asian (Japan, Korea) and European.

Proprietary
|
Research designed specifically for a client and not provided to any other parties. Proprietary research is typically designed for process improvement.

Response Rate
|
The percentage of consumers who return a completed questionnaire.

Retailer
|
An alternate term for a dealer or dealership in the automotive industry.

Sample
|
The group of survey respondents derived from a population. |
|
Sample Size
|
The number of survey responses to a specific question.
|

Segment
|
Vehicle category broken down according to characteristics. Compact cars, Sports Utility Vehicles and Full-Size Vans are examples of segments used in J.D. Power and Associates studies.

|
Acronym for Sales Satisfaction Index.

Management report/results based on surveys received.

Survey
|
A set of questions designed to generate data necessary for accomplishing the objectives of a research project. Also known as a Questionnaire.

|
Acronym for Sport Utility Vehicle.

Syndicated
|
Studies in which J.D. Power and Associates defines the audience to be surveyed and the interval between studies and the questions to be asked. Clients share the same results and costs.
